Why It Matters

Irish women have always told extraordinary stories — on stage, on page, and on screen. But too often those stories go unseen, underfunded and uncelebrated.

The Irish Women's Short Film Festival exists to change that. We are building a platform that champions female Irish filmmakers not just in Ireland, but across the diaspora and around the world. Adelaide is just the beginning.

  • The Irish Women's Short Film Festival is an independent, volunteer-run event and is not a registered charity. Donations are not tax deductible. We are grateful for every contribution, however small, and every cent goes directly towards making this festival happen. 💚

  • Every cent goes directly towards running the festival — from website costs and marketing to awards for filmmakers and hospitality on the night. We are entirely volunteer-run with no salaries or overheads, so your contribution goes as far as it possibly can.

  • Yes, absolutely — we would love to hear from you! We may need help with event logistics, social media, and in the future we hope to offer mentoring and workshops for filmmakers.
